Angelfish, Sea Fans & Coral Grouper

The majestic Blue-girdled Angelfish, (Pomacanthus narvarchus), was photographed in Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea. This fish is one of the more colorful denizens of the reef, and was quite difficult for me to approach closely. Angelfish feed primarily on sponges, and to a lesser extent on soft- bodied invertebrates, algae and fish eggs.

The luxuriant Soft Corals and Sea fans, photographed at a depth of 120 feet in the Red Sea, shows one just how clear the water can be here. They are quite commonly my favorite subjects for wide-angle scenic photographs.

This brilliant red Coral Grouper, (Cephalopholis miniata), was photographed at Ras Mohammed, Sharm-el-Sheik, Egypt. This is one of the more conspicuous of coral reef fishes and can be easily approached in this area.
