Orangefin Anemonefish and Spinecheek Clownfish
This pair of Orangefin Anemonefish (Amphiprion chrysopterus), photographed in a shallow lagoon in Fiji are living in association with the Leathery Sea Anemone (Heteractis crispa).
The Orangefin Anemonefish in the center, photographed at Ras Mohammad Marine Park in the Red Sea is living in association with the Gigantic Sea Anemone (Stichodactyla gigantea).
The bright orange pair of Spinecheek Clownfish (Premnas Biaculeatus) was photographed on Marion Reef in the Coral Sea off of Townsville, Australia.
All Clownfish or Anemonefish live in close association with Sea Anemones with most Clownfish species having a preferred Anemone host. All Anemonefish mature as males, with females being sex reversed males, sex and growth is determined by the presence of a dominant female. In the absence of a female, the larges male will turn into a female and the largest juvenile will rapidly mature into a male.
