I photographed this lovely image of a curious reef shark swimming over this brilliant purple Giant Anemone in Milne Bay near Alotau, Papua New Guinea. On this day we decided to do a little exploratory diving on a few of the offshore seamounts that were rarely visited by the local dive operations due to their remote locations. Am I glad that we did! On this one seamount in particular, almost every single Gigantic Anemone we found was an incredibly rich pink and purple color, and it was awesome having a few reef sharks keeping a watchful eye over us along the way. I love the way the currents swept the anemone open, exposing the beautiful purple pedal disc or foot of the anemone. The large stand of coral to the right and the shark gliding in from the left balance this image out perfectly, and makes a stunning composition. What a wonderful day of diving to remember!
